CAFE MOMENTO
Fort Worth, TX

Cafe Momento is an existing cafe, gallery, and bookstore set within PS1200, an award-winning mixed-use campus in Fort Worth. As a cornerstone of the campus, the client was interested in expanding the business’ offerings to include food in an adjacent space and accommodate an expanded and streamlined coffee, tea, and matcha service at their existing location.

Cafe Momento plan

Inspired by the interactions that occur between employees and guests across the coffee bar in their existing space, the food space is anchored by an omakase style bar where guests might interact with the staff as they prepare their food. By allowing guests to “eat in the kitchen,” it blurs the lines between front of house and back of house.

The project draws on CHYDUK’s experience in spatial planning for small cafe fit-outs, including Saturn Coffee and Bev’s Bagels. Working within clear concepts and references, these projects balance customer facing experiences with back of house kitchen needs, creating a sense of liveliness that’s unique to small spaces.

Design rendering of entry with integrated millwork.
